Together, they advocate for the prevention of birth defects through research and folic acid fortification.
Kodjoe along with his wife, their friend Bozoma Saint John and his brother Patrick founded the Full Circle Festival in December 2018. The event, organized in cooperation with the office of Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, aimed to bring in 'The Year of Return 2019', commemorating the 400 year anniversary of the first slave ships leaving West Africa. The event's concept hinged on bringing high profile guests to Ghana for a week of cultural activities, sites and nightlife, and to document it all on social media in order to display the multi-faceted beauty of Ghana and the African continent as a whole. This secondary mission of changing the narrative about Africa and the rebrand it in a positive light, resulted in roughly 300 million social media impressions and in Ghana's tourism sector increasing 3-4%. Based on the event's impact and success, the Full Circle Festival will be expanded into other parts of Africa in the coming years.
